Our Vineyards Santa Rita Hills

Drum Canyon Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

Situated in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills along Highway 246 between Lompoc and Buellton in Santa Barbara County, the Drum Canyon Vineyard is one of the Central Coast’s most dramatic properties, with steep hillsides rising more than 700 feet above the Dierberg Estates tasting room. Due to those challenging slopes and strong, steady winds of about 14 miles per hour that blow through the canyon all day long, the hearty Dijon, Swan, and Calera clones were selected for this property when it was planted in 2003.

The results of all that beneficial climactic stress on this vineyard are tiny, concentrated berries, which make wines that reflect the intensity and power indicative of this renowned California appellation. Yet the grapes retain their signature acidity, translating into food-friendly finesse and tantalizing vibrancy. The Drum Canyon Vineyard offers Santa Rita Hills ripeness together with Dierberg refinement.
